Jordan Country Programming Framework (CPF)

The Jordan CPF sets out four government priority areas to guide the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations partnership with and support to the Government of Jordan (GoJ). It builds on lessons from the previous CPF and brings together innovative international best practices, global standards and leveraging national and regional expertise.

The CPF will actively contribute to the achievement of various strategic goals and initiatives, aligning with the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV) 2033. It will support the objectives outlined in key national strategies such as the National Strategy for Agriculture Development 2020-2025, National Plan for Sustainable Agriculture 2022-2025, and the National Food Security Strategy (2021-2030).

Additionally, the CPF prioritizes the goals set forth in the EMV executive Program 2023- 2025, Jordan National Water Strategy 2023 – 2040, Ministry of Environment Various Strategies, ‘National Social Protection Strategy’ (NSPS) 2019-2025 and Ministry of Health National Nutrition Strategy 2023 – 2030.

This framework aims to enhance the agricultural sector in Jordan with national and regional expertise during five years, from 2024 to 2028.

Priority I: Enhance smallholder farmers’ productivity and market access via digitalization.

Strengthen smallholder farmers’ productivity and market access through enhanced agricultural sector digitalization and wide adoption of modern innovative technologies.

Priority II: Foster evidence-based agricultural policies through sustainable governance of food systems.

Ensure sustainable food systems governance and strengthen national capacities for evidence-based policies and practices in the agriculture sector, all aimed at achieving affordable, reliable, and sustainable access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food for all people in Jordan, ensuring food and nutrition security.

Priority III: Improve the sustainable management of fragile natural resources, strengthen DRR/DRM and enhance early warning capabilities.

Sustainable management of fragile natural resources, strengthen Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)/ Disaster Risk Management (DRM) and early warning toward a resilient rural and peri urban livelihood.

Priority IV: Establish a regional hub for food security and agricultural investment.

Transform Jordan into a regional hub for food security, build up the investment portfolio for agricultural development, access to finance and ensure agricultural statistics system strengthened.
