FAO Regional Office for Africa

African Commission on Agricultural Statistics (AFCAS), 29th Session

(Tunisia), 24/11/2025 - 28/11/2025

The African Commission on Agricultural Statistics (AFCAS) is a statutory body of FAO and meets every two years. AFCAS brings together senior statistics officials from FAO member countries of the African continent, who are responsible for the development of agricultural statistics in their respective countries. They review and exchange ideas on the state of food and agricultural statistics in the continent and advise member countries on the development of their agricultural statistical systems within FAO's Programme of Work and Budget for Africa.

The Twenty-nineth Session will be held in Hammamet, Tunisia from 24 to 28 November 2025. The forthcoming Session of the Commission will discuss items that are of direct relevance to the monitoring of agrifood system transformation in Africa, enhancing clarity and standardization in food insecurity and nutrition statistics, implementation of the World Programme for the Census of Agriculture and related upcoming updates in the operational guidelines, among others.

As before, participants to the Commission’s meeting are expected to be sponsored by their respective governments.
